Millets Processing & Women Training Center
- Due to low income in farming and a lack of other employment options, forced migration to urban areas is one of the main issues that needs to be addressed.
- As finger and little millet are native crops of Radhanagari and Gaganbavda tahsils, primarily due to the red soil and sloping regions, millet processing can serve as an alternate source of income, especially for women, while promoting the cultivation of ragi and little millet and encouraging their consumption.
- A millet processing workshop to train local communities in agro-processing.
- A 2,000 sq. ft. Millet Processing Unit, where training activities will be conducted for women from 10-15 nearby villages will receive training in millet processing and wild fruit packaging, opening up opportunities for income generation and improved livelihoods.
- Women and youth of the region covering will be benefitted from this unit.
- This can also lead to create greater awareness about health, benefits of millets & better diet practices.
This project aims to foster holistic development in the region, with a focus on skill-building, creating employment opportunities, better health, and women empowerment, and it will significantly contribute to the overall development of this underserved region.
Overall, BSM is working to shape the future of local youth through education, health, and self-reliance. A training center is being set up in Durgmanwad.
